As most of you are probably aware, CLI recently published a Family Cookbook. For several months, we collected recipes from staff, people we serve, families, local sponsors and businesses, and other supporters of Community Living. We ended up with more than 250 recipes and a whole lot of pride.

You see, projects like these really are labors of love. One of our staff members here, Marybeth, personally typed each and every recipe to make sure all of them were correct. Four staff members proofread the entire book multiple times to weed out any mistakes or mistypes.

The book serves as a fundraiser for CLI, in that the proceeds we get from the sale of it go toward the services and programs we offer here. But to us, this is more than another fundraiser. This book represents what Community Living is all about. We really are a family. The staff, the people we serve — we are a family here. This cookbook might just seem like a compilation of recipes but, to us, it’s a symbol of everything Community Living is.

This week, leading up to National Food Day on Oct. 24, we’re offering our cookbooks for just $10 each. They make a great gift for a loved one, or just a way to treat yourself.

We couldn’t be more proud of this cookbook, and we hope everyone who buys a copy can feel the love with which it was put together.

If you’re interested in purchasing a copy, please email Elaina or Marybeth, or call 301-663-8811 and ask for Elaina.
