For the staff at CLI, giving back isn’t limited to clocking in and out every day. It means striving to make a difference in every area they can, whether it be here with the people we serve, or by helping out another worthy organization.
That’s why, this year, CLI will be participating in the 2016 Out of the Darkness Walk coordinated by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The topic of suicide is one that, unfortunately, is still somewhat taboo in our society. Unfortunately, its impact is widely felt. Whether we have been personally affected or not, suicide is an issue that affects us all. According to the AFSP, “Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death for adults between the ages of 15 and 64 years in the United States.”
The numbers are staggering, and really serve to emphasize the gravity of the issue. Supporting this cause was an obvious choice for many of our staff.
As an organization, we hope to make a difference in the community beyond our mission statement. Our work means a great deal to us, but we recognize that there is more than one cause worth fighting for — and there is plenty of support and generosity to go around. If this community has shown us anything, it’s that kindness and the spirit of giving know no limits.
We hope you’ll join us in supporting this cause.
